What is an EPC?
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are needed whenever a domestic property is sold or rented. You must order an EPC for potential buyers or tenants before you market your property to sell or rent.
An EPC contains information about a property’s energy use and typical energy costs together with recommendations about how to reduce energy use and save money.
The property is given a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and the EPC is valid for 10 years. You can be fined if you don’t get an EPC when you need one!
How can I check whether I have one already?
All EPCs are held on a public access internet register. Simply go to www.epcregister.com and search using your post-code.
